I graduated from UCLA Design | Media Arts in 2006. I am currently a research fellow at Japan Society for the Promotion of Science in the area of cognitive science. I also teach at Keio University. At Tokyo National University of Arts, as a Ph.D student, I am pursuing my academic career working together with Masaki Fujihata and Masahiko Sato. An act of design is a conscious planning for creation of artificial systems such as analog and digital tools, sensory compositions for representing ideas and thoughts, codes and rules of interaction. These artificial systems mean only when there is a mutual engagement between these systems and us human beings. My major interest is to investigate the human factors involved in communication between humans and artifacts from perceptual to cognitive and even cultural, social level. My recent works received Laval Virtual Grand Prix du Jury, Trophees Sciences et Education in France and L'Oreal Art and Science of Color Bronze Prize.
